On a Difference-Delay Equation

Roy O. Davies and A.J. Ostaszewski

Abstract

We investigate how the behaviour, especially at  ±infty,  of continuous real solutions  f(t)  to the equation  f(t) = a1 f(t+h1) + a2 f(t-h2),  where  a1, a2, h1, h2  are positive real constants, depends on the values of these parameters. Definitive answers are given, except in certain cases when  h1/h2  is rational.
